You've got a temperature a hundred and ten!

Do you know what word is weird? Folk. There is a church here that puts little quotes or sayings on its reader board, and one for this week says "Many folks want to work for God, but just as advisors." Or something like that. But it says "many folkS." Is that right? I think folk, singular, already means more than one person, so is "many folks" being a little redundant, or is it just many groups of people? hm, but after I read it, I spent the rest of the drive home thinking this in my head, as well as saying folk over and over, slowly and in different ways you might pronounce it. Just say folk about 26 times in your head slowly, and progressing to out loud, then you'll see how weird it is. You'll probably start wanting to pronounce the silent L and what not. But yeah, I spent a lot of time driving today, and that was just one of the things I pondered!!! Whew!

you know, i have always heard folkS, but you make a good point. We have probably all been saying it wrong, because folk implies plural, eh? My advisor, Morris, used to say 'now, gentlefolk', when he talked to everyone. maybe we should start using the term 'gentlefolk', and we could refer to men and women.

yes, you have given this much thought i can see. and folk is sort of a word thats getting forgotten. i cant say that i've used it recently... i noticed in your title (aha i almost wrote , well did write, but corrected myself, titile), it should say you've got a temperature of a hundred and ten. anyways, hows alaska?

People say, "I'll be at my folk's," all the time when referring to their parents and that doesn't seem weird to me, but now it is sounding more and more like a weird word all by itself. I've got to get some sleep.

Though we do say fork and pronounce the r, maybe we should start saying fok, but then people might think you are really saying folk, which would be mucho-confusing-o. Good topic of discussion. I quite approve, quite right, good idea, quite right, good idea, quite right...movie?
